Event with Moving Memory and Bobby Baker

I had the great experience of showing my animation for Moving Memory Theatre Dance Company at their first sharing of work in progress production “We'll Take It From Here, Dear”, followed by a Q&A with legendary performance artist Bobby Baker. Continuing the company's ethos of placing older women's bodies unapologetically centre stage, the performance confronts the patronising ways older women are silenced, sidelined and spoken for.

The animation is my artistic response to the themes explored in the production which came about through a self directed residency, during which I made drawings of the performers in rehearsal, I created an animation to capture their energy and defiance. Through movement and humour, the work portrays these women as they prepare for battle, challenging ageist stereotypes with wit, resilience and determination.
